Juvenes-Yhtiöt Oy is owned by the Student Union of Tampere University of Technology (TTYY) and the Student Union of University of Tampere (Tamy) with equal shares. Juvenes-Yhtiöt Oy’s business idea is to provide student services and support the goals of its owner organisations by profitable business. TTYY has representatives in Juvenes board and general meetings.
Finnish Student Health Service FSHS (YTHS)
Finnish Student Health Service is your healthcare service provider for the duration of your studies in the Tampere University of Technology. FSHS has clinics in every university town in Finland and, with certain limitations, you are entitled to use the services provided by the Helsinki, Turku, Jyväskylä and Oulu clinics. TTYY has representatives in FSHS’s administrative bodies.
Opiskelijan Tampere (Student’s Tampere)
Opiskelijan Tampere ry. is a joint project initiated by student unions in Tampere together with Tampere Chamber of Commerce. The original idea behind the association was to bring students and the corporate world closer to each other through student discounts, for example, but the range of services has since expanded to cover many facets of student life.
The 35 000 university students in the Tampere region are a significant workforce resource for the area’s employers and a clientèle for the companies. The most significant service provided by the association is the OpiskelijanTampere.fi website and the Pivo mobile wallet. The members proper of Opiskelijan Tampere ry are TTYY, Tamy and Tamko.
The Tampere Student Housing Foundation (TOAS)
The Tampere Student Housing Foundation rents, constructs and maintains student housing in Tampere offering housing for approximately 9000 people. TTYY has representatives in TOAS’s governing bodies.
The aim of the Tampere3 project is to create an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary university by merging the Tampere University of Technology, the University of Tampere and the Tampere University of Applied Sciences to create one university consortium with shared strategy and administration. TTYY is involved in several Tampere3 committees.
Tampereen Teekkarisäätiö foundation was founded in 1976 and it is involved in student housing and other social aspects of students’ lives. The Tupsula plot, donated by the City of Tampere and located in the Kaukajärvi district, is the foundation’s main asset. The purpose of the foundation is to promote the housing and studying opportunities of the students of the Tampere University of Technology by constructing or acquiring appropriate and affordable student housing with necessary additional space and renting them out to said students. The foundation is administered by its board.
Tampereen Ylioppilastalosäätiö foundation equals Kauppakatu 10. The building completed in 1901 was donated by the City of Tampere to be used by the student unions in 1968. It was handed back to the City of Tampere in 2014 and consequently the foundation no longer has a space to manage. The foundation’s highest authority is a delegation appointed by the TTYY and Tamy councils. The delegation appoints the foundation’s board.
